Sports & Remedial Massage

Sports & remedial massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and connective tissue surrounding the joints (fascia, tendons, ligaments etc). Though know as sports massage it is not just for those who play sports but for everyone, regardless of how active or inactive they may be.

Imagine the body as a cup. When we are children, the cup is relatively empty. However, as we move through life that cup starts to fill up through trauma, stress and strain.  We demand more of our bodies, whilst giving little back in return.  If left unattended, this can often result in injury, our body’s way of showing us our physical limits.

Soft tissue therapy is a way of emptying that cup and restoring the body back to its optimum state.  Typically resulting in faster recovery from injury; relief from muscle pain and tightness; reduced back pain; enhanced overall physical performance and power output; improved biomechanics and restored balance; and just as importantly, effective relaxation and stress relief.

On your first visit, your therapist will complete a confidential assessment, examining the reasons for your visit and your medical history and identifying what you are looking to achieve from soft tissue therapy so we can develop appropriate treatment goals to meet your needs. We always start with a physical assessment of your posture, strength, stability, gait mobility and range of motion, as well as gauging pain levels and tissue pliability. So please bring along a pair of shorts and loose-fitting clothing and be prepared to relax and enjoy the start of your journey towards ‘the best possible version of you’.
